Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden

Professor Mayr is well-known internationally for his research on cognitive control and decision making. He investigates cognitive mechanisms that implement flexible control of action and thought in younger and older adults. He has shown that the human cognitive system has a one-task-at-a-time constraint, enforcing the need to switch back and forth between tasks during multi-tasking. During his stay in Germany, Professor Mayr will focus on how action control changes from early to late adulthood and why people sometimes, but not always, experience pleasure when donating for charity or contributing to the common good.
